My name is Courtney Stubbert.

My interests in art are driven by the failure of language. The human experience is too complex to be dealt with in words alone, and for me, the language of image making allows me to explore the ideas and questions of existence without the restraints of everyday, word-based communication. My work deals with the human condition and it's relation to the infinite, past and present cultural constructions, and structures of belief. Much of my current imagery has been developed over the last few years and combines my interests in sketchbook doodles, pop art, and architecture.

I graduated from the Art Institute of Seattle in 1996 with a degree in Visual Communications with an emphasis in design and illustration. In 2007 I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the Art History program at the University of Oregon. By day I am Senior Graphic Designer and Art Director for Imagination International, Inc.- North American importer and distributor of Copic Markers of Japan. I am a freelancer as well. I live and work in Eugene, Oregon.

When I am not painting or drawing I am working on one of the following projects:

bluetowerarts.org - A contemporary arts non-profit. I am the director of development for this group. I art directed and co-designed the website. I blog for them as well.

Thisyearsmodel.net - A design/t-shirt collaborative shop with my friend and artist Spencer Reynolds. Launched in January 2010.

Machete Brothers - An ongoing collaborative music project with my brother, Producer Ashley Stubbert. Experimental, post-punk. I am drummer and co-songwriter.
